چکیده

Fast algorithms for high-speed divider design in finite fields GF(2) are very crucial in applications like cryptosystems. In this paper, we reformulated the conventional iterative division algorithm by changing the pre-defined variable and then updating its initial value accordingly. The reformulated division algorithm allows a restructuring of the divider architecture to further improve its operating speed without increasing latency or area cost. Using the proposed fast algorithm, we developed two high-speed iterative dividers based on the semi-systolic and bit-serial systolic architectures. Analytical results show that the cost of the initial value update and variable transformation in the reformulated algorithm is almost negligible in the hardware implementation. Our divider designs improve the critical path delay. Compared with related divider designs, the proposed designs have time and area advantages.

A Versatile and Scalable Digit-Serial/Parallel Multiplier Architecture for Finite Fields GF(2m)

We present an architecture for digit-serial multiplication in finite fields GF(2m) with applications to cryptography. The proposed design uses polynomial basis representation and interleaves multiplication steps with degree reduction steps. An M-bit multiplier works with arbitrary irreducible polynomials and can be used for any binary field of order 2m ≤ 2M . We introduce a new method for degre...

High Performance Architecture for Elliptic Curve Scalar Multiplication over GF(2m)

We propose a new architecture for performing Elliptic Curve Scalar Multiplication (ECSM) on elliptic curves over GF (2). This architecture maximizes the parallelism that the projective version of the Montgomery ECSM algorithm can achieve. It completes one ECSM operation in about 2(m−1)(dm/De+4)+m cycles, and is at least three times the speed of the best known result currently available. When im...

Impact of Intel's New Instruction Sets on Software Implementation of GF(2)[x] Multiplication

PCLMULQDQ, a new instruction that supports GF(2)[x] multiplication, was introduced by Intel in 2010. This instruction brings dramatic change to software implementation of multiplication in GF(2m) fields. In this paper, we present improved Karatsuba formulae for multiplying two small binary polynomials, compare different strategies for PCLMULQDQbased multiplication in the five GF(2m) fields reco...
